    Step Aerobics For Fun And Fitness

    How long have you been doing aerobics routines and exercises? If you feel weighed down doing the same routines and exercises for a long time, it is probably becoming lackluster and uninteresting. This is the time to go to the next level! What about switching to step aerobics?

    Step aerobics uses a platform and follows a a routine that is choreographed. It can also use what appears like a domed flexible apparatus frequently used in BOSU (Both Sides Utilized) which is a balance exercise routine. To attain a total body workout, step aerobics may be fused with other routines such as use of jumping rope, body sculpting routines, sliding or funk aerobics.

    Why is step aerobics an ideal workout? Just like aerobics, it can foster strength, endurance, health, good disposition and sharper mind. The beat and the choreography can make the heart and the lungs pumping. Because the exercise is focused on the use of legs, it is a perfect cross training for cyclist and joggers. Balance, coordination, and dexterity are also developed. The rhythm of the music, the level of steps and the complexity of the choreography can change the level of difficulty and create an impact on the joints. Anyone who is advanced and who wants a much higher degree of difficulty can use weights.

    Step aerobics is gaining popularity because it makes aerobics more fun and challenging specially when cross training. Anybody can do this type of aerobic not unless one has problems on knees, ankles, joints and backs. Those with problems may still join so long as the steps are lowered and the music has a slower pace. The fact that shoe manufacturers came out with customize shoes for stepping means only that it is fast gaining popularity. Other athletic shoes may also be used except for running shoes which may cause one to stumble if those waffle bottom designs catch the top of the platform.

    Regardless of your level of fitness, one must always start with the lowers platforms of the step aerobics until you get used to it. Concentrating on the footwork is best when starting. Despite difficulty, enjoy stepping by enjoying the moment.
